The idea is simple but powerful: gather 100 local companies, each willing to contribute quarterly, and direct those combined funds to local nonprofits doing incredible work in the community. We’ve been a member for the past two years, and in that time, we’ve seen firsthand the impact of coming together for good.
Each quarter, the member companies come together for a meeting featuring three OC-based nonprofits, each nominated by members. These nonprofits present their mission, share their impact, and outline how they’d use the funds if selected. Then, each company gets one vote.
The nonprofit with the most votes receives the largest share of the funding, while the others also walk away with support—just at a smaller scale. As more companies join the group, the total funds grow. The most recent winner received $35,000 to fuel their mission.
But 100 Companies That Care is more than a funding mechanism. It’s a window into the real needs of our community. It’s a space where businesses can connect, discover volunteer opportunities, and see the powerful ripple effect that generosity can create.
It’s also just plain encouraging. To be surrounded by other companies who care about more than just profit is a reminder that the business community can be a force for good. And when we come together, we’re stronger—both in impact and in connection.
