Let’s be real—explaining title insurance to someone who doesn’t work in the industry can feel impossible. Whether it's your friends, your family, or someone at a dinner party, the question “What is title insurance?” is usually followed by blank stares.
So, we decided to try something different.
Instead of explaining it to adults again, we sat our CEO Jeff Bates down with his daughters Eden and Vesper… and asked them to figure it out.
Jeff asked the girls how they would prove they really owned their Lego house—especially if someone else came in and claimed it as theirs. That’s when things started to click.
With a mini deed and a little guidance, Eden and Vesper quickly understood that title insurance is like promise of ownership. It protects what’s yours and makes sure no one can claim it later.
Their version?
“It’s like a shield or a gate to protect the house.”
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
